The plans are in place for the Sixth Annual Downtown Jubilee on Saturday, Sept. 11. According to Virginia Fulton, co-chairman of the Downtown Jubilee Committee, this year’s event will be built on patriotism to observe the ninth anniversary of the World Trade Center and Pentagon bombings. “We will have a special memorial and recognition for our firefighters, law enforcement and active military personnel and veterans,” she said. The Downtown Jubilee is scheduled to begin Saturday at 9 a.m. with the dedication at 10 a.m. This year’s event will include arts and crafts booths, concessions and entertainment. Children’s activities will include a dunking booth, bungee jump, and face painting, according to Fulton. A car/truck/bike show with all proceeds going to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is also planned. Tours will be given for the Grenada History Museum, Coca-Cola Museum, and Chakchiuma Swamp. “This year’s event is full of fun for the family, so bring your lawn chair and join us,” Fulton said.
