Carlos Ray Begley
    Memorial services for Carlos Ray Begley, 66, of Water Valley are at 2 p.m. Saturday in Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home. The committal will be held in Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery in Yalobusha County.
    The family will receive friends on Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
    Mr. Begley died Oct. 17, 2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.
    He was born in Hazard, Ky., to the late Carlos and Grace Brewer Begley.
    Mr. Begley was an educator to military personnel and to individuals who were seeking to serve in the military. He graduated from the University of Louisiana-Monroe with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
    Surviving Mr. Begley are two sons, Eric Begley of Irving, Texas and Scott Begley of Woodstock, Ga.; two brothers, Philip Begley of Lincolnton, Ga., and David Wayne Begley of Coffeeville; and four grandchildren.
    Seven Oaks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Terry Len Elliott
    Funeral services for Terry Len Elliott, 43, of Barlett, Tenn., formerly of Grenada, are at 11 a.m. Saturday at First New Hope M. B. Church. Burial will follow in Haven Rest Cemetery.
    Visitation is Friday from 1 to 6 p.m. at Eddie Robinson Funeral Home.
    Mr. Elliott died Oct. 17, 2009, at his home of natural causes.
    He was born Jan. 6, 1966, to the late Herman Ward and Annie Elliott.
    Mr. Elliott was an eight-year Marines veteran, a car salesman a Baptist, a 1984 graduate of Grenada High School, and a 2005 graduate of Holmes Community College.
    Survivors include his fiancée, Laurel Tyler; his children, Nicole Elliott, Xavier Elliott, Tarilyn Elliott, and Micah Jolly; and a sister, Cynthia Elliott.
    Eddie Robinson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Luther Harris
    Funeral services for Luther Harris, 77, of Charleston, are at noon Saturday at Pine Grove West M. B. Church. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
    Mr. Harris died Oct. 15, 2009, at the Tallahatchie Nursing Home of natural causes.
    He was born on May 14, 1932.
    Mr. Harris was a construction worker with David Morgan Construction Company.

Janice Marie Hays
    Funeral services for Janice Marie Hays, 74, of Jefferson Community near Carrollton, formerly of Itta Bena, are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Itta Bena Cemetery.
    Visitation is Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
    Mrs. Hays died Oct. 21, 2009, in Goshen Springs, Miss.
    She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.
    Preceding Mrs. Hays in death are her son, Kenny Hays; a granddaughter, Carly Ann Denton; and three brothers.
    Surviving Mrs. Hays are her husband, Preston O. Hays; a son, Ricky L. Hays and his wife Penny of Sidon, two daughters, Tina Myers and her husband Billy of Canton, and Anita Denton of Grenada; a brother, Alvin Upchurch of Jefferson Community, seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
    Memorials may be made to Liberty Baptist Church or the charity of the donor’s choice.
    Wilson and Knight Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Harry Heinerichs
    Graveside services for Harry Heinerichs, 85, of Winona, formerly of Slidell, La., were at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Oakwood Cemetery in Winona.
    Mr. Heinerichs died Oct. 18, 2009, at Winona Manor Nursing Home of heart failure.
    He was a retired riverboat engineer and a member of the Catholic Church.
    Mr. Heinerichs was a mason and a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II.
    Preceding Mr. Heinerichs in death are his wife, Gaynel Ladnier Heinerichs and his parents, Fredrick and Elizabeth Reese Heinerichs.
    Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Perry of Winona; three sons, Michael Heinerichs of Alton, Ill., Harry Walter Heinerichs II and Carl Fredrick Heinerichs both of Slidell, La.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Bertie Fancher Daves Herbert
    Funeral services for Bertie Fancher Daves Herbert, 88, of Grenada, are at 11 a.m. Friday at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Black Hawk. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
    Mrs. Herbert died Oct. 21, 2009, at Greenwood Leflore Hospital.
    She was born in Carthage on Jan. 29, 1921, to Pink and Cora Herrington Quick and resided in the Blackhawk area most of her life.
    Mrs. Herbert was a member of New Bethel Methodist Church in Duck Hill and a former member of the Blackhawk Home Demonstration Club. She enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable garden, fishing, sewing, dancing, music and spending time with her family.
    Preceding Mrs. Herbert in death are three spouses, James Otis Fancher, Ridge Daves and Wayne Herbert, three daughters, Mary Fancher, Laverne Thomas and Ina Faye Bruce; a son Joe Wayne Fancher; and four grandchildren.
    Surviving Mrs. Herbert are five daughters, Louise Hopper of Coila, Thelma Holderfield of Plano, Texas, Judy Haley of Blackhawk, Angie Love of Kilmichael, and Carolyn Jean Dettman of Philadelphia, Miss.; two sons, Kenneth Daves of Blackhawk, and Karl Daves of Blackhawk; her twin sister, Mertie Barnes of Caldwell, Idaho; two brothers, Paul Quick of Caldwell and Jack Quick of Florence; 19 Grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

James Willie Holmes
    Funeral services for James Willie Holmes, 64, of Water Valley, are Friday at 1 p.m. at Bayson Chapel M. B. Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
    Mr. Holmes died Oct. 15, 2009, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo of natural causes.
    He was born on Nov. 14, 1944.
    Mr. Holmes was a Baptist.
    Survivors include his wife, Lillion Holmes of Water Valley.

Gregory L. Murphy
    Funeral services for Major Gregory L. Murphy, U. S. Air Force Retired, 52, of Auburn, Ind., native of Greenville, are at 10 a.m. Saturday in Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Paris Cemetery in Paris, Miss.
    Visitation is Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
    Major Murphy died Oct. 18, 2009, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center in Bedford, Ind.
    He was born in Greenville to Ben C. Murphy and the late Vivian Hancock Murphy.
    Major Murphy served in the United States Air Force from 1978 to 1998.
    Surviving Major Murphy are his wife of 31 years, Susan Cook Murphy of Auburn, Ind.; a daughter, Emily S. Murphy of Auburn, Ind.; a son Gregory Andrew Murphy of Auburn, Ind.; his father, Ben C. Murphy of Vaiden; two sisters, Kay Soffriti of Danville, Va., and Kathy David of Chatsworth, Calif.; and two brothers Lanny Murphy of Tyler, Texas and Patrick Murphy of Kosciusko.

Ophelia James White
    Funeral services for Ophelia James White, 100, of Hillside, Ill., formerly of Grenada, native of Duck Hill, are at 11 a.m. Monday at Battle Temple COGIC. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
    Visitation is Friday from 1 to 6 p.m. at Eddie Robinson Funeral Home.
    Mrs. White died Oct. 19, 2009, in Chicago of natural causes.
    She was born on Sept. 29, 1909, and was the daughter of the late Alfred James and Pearl Cooley.
    Mrs. White was a housewife and a member of Mount Pleasant M.B. Church.
