(ARA) - The goals of travel are as different as each traveler. Some seek museums and fine arts. Some crave remote cultures or rare animals. Others pursue the best shopping and dining destinations. But there's a part of almost every traveler that at some point wants to go on a trip on which they can simply sit back, relax and soak up the sun.
Cruising is easily one of the most convenient and comfortable ways to see the world, and your options for warm-weather destinations are almost endless. No matter what you want to see under the sun, you'll be able to find a cruise that combines all the best of a destination in one package.
Mexico
A cruise is a unique and fun way to take in a lot of territory in our neighbor to the south. There are itineraries that suit just about every budget, and a variety of different trip durations. Stops include some of the most popular destinations in the country, but also give you a glimpse into more obscure spots.
Royal Caribbean Cruises has voyages to Mexico that bring together the natural and the man-made in an unforgettable combination. It's impossible not to be awed by the dramatic coastline of Cabo San Lucas and the organic beauty of going on a jungle walk near Puerto Vallarta or dipping into the waters of Acapulco for some first-rate snorkeling. It's also fun to get a different perspective on Mexico by exploring some of its beautiful cities. The colonial architecture that still stands in places like Acapulco and Colima will win a prominent place in any visitor's memories, as will excursions like tours of artisanal workshops and agave farms that produce tequila.
Islands of the Caribbean
The tiny islands that are strung like pearls through the Caribbean Sea prove the old adage that good things come in small packages. While just the beaches that these islands have to offer would be enough for anyone, many of the cities on the islands have real personality and add a distinct flavor to any visit.
Cruises that take in a variety of the islands will give you an unforgettable vacation that is as varied as it is relaxing. Celebrity Cruises has some great itineraries that include a wide variety of ports. Plan on destinations like St. Maarten, which has the distinction of being the smallest piece of land on earth to be divided between two nations (France and the Netherlands) and is home to gorgeous beaches; San Juan, Puerto Rico, which features a colorful and historic old town (it's the second-oldest European settlement in the Americas); St. Lucia, with its memorable market in the capital city of Castries, and its mountainous, forested interior; and many more.
Hawaii
One of the most incredible tropical destinations in the world is a part of our own country. It has every beach amenity you could want - white sand, black sand and much of it powdery fine - and so much more. On cruises like those offered by Norwegian Cruise Lines, you can go island-hopping and take in all the highlights. On Maui, take in the majesty of the Haleakala crater and cling to the winding and spectacular road to Hana. The "Big Island" of Hawaii is where you'll get up close and personal with active volcanoes at Volcanoes National Park and on the Circle of Fire helicopter tour; you'll also be able to explore the historic city of Kona and go snorkeling in pristine waters. You'll get even more breathtaking scenery on the island of Kauai, where you can explore the Waimea Canyon and the dramatic Na Pali coast.
