KATHY BERNICE HODGE BROWN
1954-2012
Kathy Bernice Hodge Brown, 57, of Yuma, died Monday, August 13, 2012 at her home. Funeral services were Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home. Interment followed in Farmsville Cemetery in Yuma. Bro. Tony Boyd officiated the service.
Mrs. Brown was born September 14, 1954 in Huntingdon to the late Max Todd Hodge and Kennie Marie (Maness) Hodge. She was a production worker for Henry I. Siegel Company and a Baptist by Faith. She was also preceded in death by two brothers; William Lloyd Hodge and Donald Elston Hodge.
She is survived by one daughter; Amy (Robert) Waddell, of Hermitage; two sons, Brian Wisdom, of Nicholasville, Kentucky, and Damon (Marla) Hatley, of Humboldt; three sisters, Carolyn (Larry) McGuire, of Yuma, Sharon (Lynn) Davidson, and Joy DeHart, both of Nashville; two brothers, Charles (Gwen) Hodge, of Westport, and Earl (Rhonda) Hodge, of Yuma. She also leaves two grandchildren.

DEWEY LAYFAYETTE OWEN
1922-2012
HENRY: Dewey Layfayette Owen, 89, of Henry, died Saturday, August 11, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services were Sunday, August 12, 2012 at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Johnny Wall officiating. Burial followed at the New Bethel Cemetery.
Mr. Owen was born August 24, 1922 in Henry County to the late Euin Owen and Essie Lee Dallas Wallace Owen. He was a member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and a licensed minister for about 40 years. He was also a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances Owen, and a son, Danny Owen.
He is survived by: one daughter, Norma Ann (Tommy) Rock, of Guntown, MS; four sons, Roy Gene (Janice) Owen, of Henry, Walter (Sue) Owen, of Paris, David (Brooksie) Owen, of McKenzie, and Wendell (Alicia) Owen, of New Johnsonville; eight grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

BEURON RICHARD ESCH
1915-2012
Beuron Richard Esch, 96, of North Little Rock, Arkansas, died Thursday, August 16, 2012. He was born October 5, 1915, in McKenzie, Tennessee, to Gus Enloe and Eva Moore Esch.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his four brothers, Joe, James, Jack, and Andrew Esch. He is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Clarine Barker Esch, and his three children; Bill Esch (Sarah) of Overland Park Kansas, Barbara Mills (Dennis) of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Brian Esch (Paige) of Franklin, Tennessee. He adored his six grandchildren; Richard and Brad Esch, Hunter and Emily Clair Mills, and Carmen and Andrew Esch; and his two great grandchildren, Caroline and Dylan Esch.
Soon after WWII ended, Beuron and Clarine moved to North Little Rock, where they raised their family, and he worked in sales and management positions for several Little Rock area businesses, including Karcher Candy Company, Life of Georgia Insurance Company, and Red Crown Laundry Services.
He was a very active, faithful member of Somers Avenue Church of Christ in NLR, where he diligently served as a Sunday School teacher and for nearly forty years as a deacon. He was devoted to providing weekly communion services at worship and for shut-ins. Each year for four decades at the Arkansas State Fair, he enjoyed volunteering at their church’s booth to provide registrations for Bible correspondence courses.
Beuron was an avid enthusiast of WWII history, Big Band era and country western music, baseball, fishing and camping, and the Razorbacks. (paid obit)

CHRISTIE JEAN BRYANT
DECATURVILLE - Christie Jean Bryant, 42, of Decaturville, Tenn. died Friday, August 17 at Westwood Manor.
Christie is survived by her mother, Vernell (Lynn) Smith, of Decaturville; her father, Weldon Eugene Whitt, of Gleason; a grandmother, Christine Bryant, of Milan; a sister, Maggie LeeAnne (Brent) Arnold, of Gleason; three brothers, Thomas Eugene (Stephanie) Whitt, of McKenzie; Luke (Pam) Smith, of Decaturville; Daniel Smith, of Decaturville; and nine nieces and nephews.
Chistie was preceded in death by grandparents Johnny O. Bryant, Floyd & Bobbie Rogers, Dorothy Jean Whitt, Thomas & Pauline Whitt.
Her funeral service were at Reed's Chapel, Decaturville on Sunday, August 19th, with Bro. Steve Weatherford officiating. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery near Decaturville.

CHARLES ROBERT BLACKWELL
1936-2012
ATWOOD: Charles Robert Blackwell, 76, of Atwood, died Monday, August 13, 2012. Funeral services were Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Bodkin Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Waycaster officiating. Burial followed at Shiloh Cemetery in Bradford.
Mr. Blackwell was born June 29, 1936 in Gibson County to the late Robert Lee Blackwell and Eunie U. Simpson. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a retired manager for Greyhound Bus Lines and a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Milan. He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Blackwell.
He is survived by: wife Marian Blackwell; three daughters, Cindy (Ronald) Linford, of Atwood, Lori (William) Thompson, of Laurel, Maryland, and Dawn Blackwell, of Milan; one sister, Maedell Blakely, of Milan; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

ROSELYN ELIZABETH ESPEY
1927-2012
HUNTINGDON: Roselyn Elizabeth Espey, 85, of Huntingdon, died Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Graveside funeral services were Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery with Bro. Nathan Gulledge officiating.
Mrs. Espey was born April 9, 1927, in Huntingdon, to the late James Barry Espey and Rose Lee Smothers Espey. She was a retired employee of the Carroll County Health Department.
She is survived by three sisters, Jo An Bain, Lucille Hatley, and Louise Hartstein, all of Huntingdon.
Dilday-Carter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

BILLY JOE UMSTEAD
1948-2012
HUNTINGDON: Billy Joe (B.J.) Umstead, 64, of Huntingdon, died Saturday, August 18, 2012 at his home. Funeral services were Monday, August 20, 2012 in the chapel of Dilday-Carter Funeral Home. Burial followed in the New Hope Cemetery in Yuma with Bro. Wayne Burton officiating.
Mr. Umstead was born May 31, 1948 to the late Billy and Lee Etta Greener Umstead. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sonda Umstead.
He is survived by: three daughters, Laura (Jerry) Brown, of Huntingdon, Lacy Roberts, of Cedar Grove, and Flannery Umstead, of England; one son, Joey (Tracy) Umstead, of Elizabethtown, KY; three sisters, Peggy (James) DePriest, of Huntingdon, Mary (Billy) Pinson, of Atwood, and Sharon (Wayne) Johnson, of Munford; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

HENRY: Billy Joe Walton, 74, of Henry, died Saturday, August 11, 2012 at his residence. Memorial services were Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at Henry Baptist Church with John Sutton officiating.
Mr. Walton was born January 12, 1938 in Henry to the late John Douglas and Mary Clement Walton. He was a member of Henry Baptist Church and a retired radio operator for the U.S. Navy with 20 years of service, where he received good conduct medals.
He is survived by: his wife, Carolyn Jose Walton, of Henry; one daughter, Cassie Tooke, of Henry; two sons, Drew Walton, of Henry, and Jorje Eric Tooke, of Jacksonville, FL; three sisters, Nancy Butler, of Henry, Judy Nobles, of Danville, GA, and Pat (Larry) Nisbet, of Tampa, FL; one brother, Leroy (Joan) Walton, of Glenn St. Mary, FL; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews

DEBBIE COLEMAN NULL
1971-2012
MEMHIS: Debby Coleman Null, 41, of Memphis, Tenn. died Tuesday, August 7, 2012. A memorial service was Saturday, August 11, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Hope Presbyterian Church on Walnut Grove Road in Cordova, Tenn.
She is survived by three children, Jessica (Chris) Null Gupton, Joseph Null and Coleman Null; their father, Keith Null; her parents, Keith and Linda Coleman of McKenzie, grandmother, Ernestine Branon of McKenzie; two sisters, Gina Coleman King of McKenzie and Patti Coleman of Ocala, Florida; a brother, Mike Coleman of McKenzie, and one grandchild.
Debby dedicated her life to enriching the lives of autistic children and their parents.

MAURICE LEROY COUCH
1919 - 2012
Funeral services for Maurice Leroy Couch, 93, were Thursday, August 8, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Brummitt-McKenzie Funeral Home, with Bro. Dewayne Thomas officiating. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
He was born on December 1, 1918 in Rutherford, Tenn., to Entler Leroy and Ruth Patterson Couch. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and the Elks. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Norma Kathryn Cook Couch.
Survivors include daughters; Maurilee (Tom) Walker, Star Valley, AZ, Kathy (Larry) Rosengreen, CA, and a brother Bernie Couch, CA. He is also survived by five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Brummitt-McKenzie Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

ROBERT EARL 'BOBBY' HIGHFIL
1945-2012
Funeral services for Robert Earl “Bobby” Highfil, 66 of Gleason, Tenn. were Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Brummitt-McKenzie Funeral Home, with Bro. Gene Price officiating. Burial followed at El Bethel Cemetery, Gleason, Tenn.
He was born December 9, 1945 in Crayne, Kentucky, to Robert Guy and Mildred Marie Baird Highfil. He was a funeral director and embalmer at Brummitt Funeral Home for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include: wife, Kay Brown, Gleason; daughters, Jennifer H Pinson, McKenzie, Lisa Highfil, Paducah, Kentucky; two sisters; Donna Brantley, St. Louis, Missouri, and Marilyn Appleton, Arnold, Missouri. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Jacob and Jacey Pinson, McKenzie.

Carolyn E. Crutchfield Blaylock, age 74 of Nashville, died Tuesday, July 31, 2012.
She is survived by one son, Joe B. (Carolyn Irene) Blaylock; granddaughter, Lisa (Chris) Page; grandson, Scott Blaylock; step-grandson, Charles (Vickie) Highers; step-granddaughter, Brenda Halpin; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, E.L. Blaylock; daughter, Debra C. Blaylock; and grandson, Michael Hannah.
Graveside services were in Everett’s Chapel Cemetery, McKenzie.
Anderson & Garrett Funeral Home of Joelton were in charge of arrangements.

DRESDEN: Janet Leigh Maddox, 51, of Dresden, died Monday, August 6, 2012 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Dresden Cumberland Presbyterian Chruch. Burial followed at Sunset Cemetery.
Ms. Maddox was born September 28, 1960 in Union City to Bonnie (Brundige) Jones and Sam Maddox, both of Dresden. She was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Maddox.
Other survivors include: stepfather Kenneth Jones, of Dresden; two brothers, Mark (Kerri) Maddox, of Dresden, and Ricky (Bianca) Jones, of Tulsa, OK.

BRUCETON: James Charles “Charlie” Williams, 70, of Yuma, formally of Bruceton, died Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at the home of his sister. Funeral services were Thursday, August 9 at Bruceton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Jamison Cemetery in Westport with Bro. Billy Ringold officiating.
Mr. Williams was born January 15, 1942 in Westport to the late Pascal Henry Williams and Ruby Ethel Smith Williams. He was preceded in death by a brother, Nathan Williams.
He is survived by: one sister, Patsy (B.J.) Higdon, of Yuma and several nieces and nephews.

RUTH ANN ARNOLD SAYDAK
1935-2012
MCKENZIE: Ruth Ann Arnold Saydak, 77, died Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Hillview Community Living Center in Dresden. Funeral services were Tuesday, August 14 at 3:00 p.m. at Brummitt-McKenzie Funeral Home with Bro. Darrell Pollock officiating. Burial followed at Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Saydak was born March 6, 1935 in Henderson County to the late Ora Lee and Lula Hayes Arnold. She was Baptist in faith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul Saydak; a brother, Lee Arnold, and a nephew, Billy Arnold.
She is survived by: two sisters, Alta L. Scott, of McKenzie, and Zula (Royce) M. Reynolds, of McKenzie, and several nieces and nephews.

HUNTINGDON: Lila Carden, 103, of Huntingdon, died Monday, August 13, 2012 at Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services are Thursday, August 16, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Clarksburg Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Sellers Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Carden was born September 14, 1908 in Clarksburg to the late Henry and Betty (Roark) Laycook. She was employed by Publix Shirt and was a member of the Clarksburg Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Carden; two daughters, Evelyn Utley and Janet O’Bryan; a brother and four sisters.
She is survived by: two daughters, Evonne Haywood, of Huntingdon, and Wanda Barlow, of Cool Springs, FL; two sons, Harry Carden, of Westport, and Larry Carden, of Ripley; 13 grandchildren; several great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.

Memorial services for Keith Pruitt of McKenzie, 54, are Saturday, August 18 at 6:00 p.m. at Fairview Baptist Church, located off Highway 22 between McKenzie and Huntingdon.
Mr. Pruitt died July 14.
