CARY CHRISTOPHER MCALISTER
GREENFIELD: Services for Mr. Cary McAlister, 41, of Hermitage, will be held Thursday July 19, 2012, at 11:00 am at Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Greenfield. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5pm until 8pm.
Cary is survived by his wife, Mitzie Thomas McAlister, his mother Teresa Knott, step- mother Juanita McAlister, half-sister Monica McAlister, step-brother Jonathan Davidson, and half-Brother Matthew Knott, grandparents Paul and Christine Reynolds, step-father Larry Knott, and mother and father-in-law, Jan and Ricky Cozart, of McKenzie. He was preceded in death by his father Gary McAlister, and grandparents, Glen and Lois McAlister. In leiu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the American Diabeties Association.
JAMES HAROLD “BULL” PIERCE
HUNTINGDON: James Harold “Bull” Pierce, 84, of Huntingdon, died Monday, July 16, 2012 at Huntingdon Health and Rehab. Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 18 at the Bruceton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Henry Simpson officiating. Burial followed at Prospect Cemetery in Hollow Rock.
Mr. Pierce was born January 15, 1928 in Carroll County to the late Ivy Richard “Doc” Pierce and Mary Myrtle Higdon Pierce. He was a cutter for Public Shirt. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Cooper, and three brothers, Dewey Pierce, Loyce Pierce and Glen Pierce.
He is survived by: one daughter, Diana Rich, of Huntingdon; two sons, Gary H. (Brenda) Pierce, and Barry K. (Lori) Pierce, both of Huntingdon; one sister, Christine Bates, of Huntingdon; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
RICHARD ELVIS KEE
MCKENZIE: Richard Elvis Kee, 84, died Sunday, July 22, 2012 at Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville, Kentucky. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at McKenzie Church of Christ with Conrad Moorer and Terry Jo Kee officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Mr. Kee was born November 12, 1927 in Newbern to the late Will and Lonie Howell Kee. He was a terminal manager for Allied Holdings of Atlanta, Georgia and a member of McKenzie Church of Christ.
He is survived by: wife, Betty Jean Choate Kee; one son, Barry Richard (Patsy) Kee, of Pensacola, Florida; two daughters, Janice Ann (Pat) Ross, of Belleview, Florida, and Cynthia Lynn (Conrad) Moorer, of Jeffersonville, Indiana; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

DANNY RAY ELLIS
HUNTINGDON: Danny Ray Ellis, 48, of Huntingdon, died Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Graveside services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at McAuley Cemetery.
Mr. Ellis was born January 31, 1964, to the late L.D. and Zolline Massey Ellis also preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Ellis.
He is survived by: one daughter, Jennifer Ellis, of Huntingdon; one sister, Sherry Gross, of Milan; two grandchildren, one niece and one nephew.

VERENA PARKS COOK
MEMPHIS - Verena Parks Cook, 85, of Memphis died Saturday, July 21 at the Memphis Jewish Home. She was born near Gleason, Tenn. in Weakley County on February 21, 1927, the daughter of Homer and Willie Parks. She graduated from McKenzie High School in 1945. Verena was married to Paul W. Cook for 65 years.
She is survived by her sons, Paul W. Cook, Jr. (Vava) and Michael Cook (Vicki); her grandchildren, Amanda Cook, Melanie Clark (Josh), David Cook and Emily Cook; her great-grandchildren Rigby Clark and Dalloway Clark; and her brother, Forrest Allen Parks (Jean), three sister-in-laws Maxie Cook Bersey, Carolyn Cook Bishop, and June Cook - all of McKenzie. She also leaves several nieces, nephews and cousins within the McKenzie area.
Funeral services were Tuesday, July 24 at Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in McKenzie at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

MCKENZIE: Melvin Heath, 79, of McKenzie, died Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Henry County Medical Center in Paris. Funeral services will be at Long Heights Baptist Church on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. with Kenny Carr officiating. Visitation will be at Long Heights Baptist Church on Wednesday, from 12:00 p.m. until services.
Mr. Heath was born on February 9, 1933 in Munford to the late Doc Walker Heath and Elva Beatrice Holliman Heath. He was also preceded in death by two sisters and a brother. When he lived in Memphis he was a member of the Lions Club, Big Brothers, Shriners, Sheriff’s Association and served as an auxillary probation officer.
He is survived by: wife of 61 years, Betty Hill Heath, of Memphis; two daughters, Patsy Bailey, of Memphis, and Marilyn Coulter, of Hernando, Mississippi; three sons, Glen (Jill) Heath, of Memphis, Ricky Heath, and Mark (Monica) Heath, both of McKenzie; two brothers; two sisters; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren
JOEL DEVON BELEW
JESUP, IOWA: Joel Devon Belew, 42, of Jesup, Iowa (formerly of McLemoresville), died at home on Sunday, July 8. He was born March 17, 1970 in Elkhart, Indiana, son of Joe Curtis and Madeline Hall Belew. He married Melanie Diedrich on August 20, 2004 in Waterloo, Iowa. To this union four children were born. He brought to the marriage two children and she brought three children.
Mr. Belew received his education from the Elkhart public schools and St. Vincent Catholic School and the Carroll County School System. He graduated from West Carroll High School, received a degree in Electrical Engineering from ITT Technical College in Nashville, TN. He was employed with TransAmerica in Cedar Rapids. He worked 20+ years in communications in Cedar Rapids, including with MCI, Verizon, and Rockwell Collins.
He was a member and Past Worshipful Master of Mt. Olive Lodge #17, Past Worthy Patron of Silverleaf Chapter #5 O.E.S., Officer of A.G. Clark Consistory #68, in Cedar Rapids, Past Grand Patron for the State of Iowa O.E.S., and Bashir Temple #156 in Waterlooo, Iowa.
He is survived by: his devoted wife Melanie; five sons, Tyler Robey, Isaiah, Benjamin, Zachary and Alexander Belew, all at home; three daughters, Brittany Thornton, of North Liberty, Sarah Robey, of Waterloo, and Makayla Belew, of the home; his mother, Madeline H. (Charles) Lumpkin, of McLemoresville; his father, Joe (Pat) Belew, of Elkhart, Indiana; two sisters, Evangeline Johnson, of Milan, and Youlanda K. Belew, of Indianapolis, Indiana; a god-grandmother (Gramma) Mrs. Gurtrude Luter, of Cedar Rapids; six maternal aunts and six paternal aunts, one maternal uncle, five nieces and a nephew, a host of close cousins and family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by: a son, Nathaniel Belew; maternal grandparents David and Luella Bell Hall, and paternal grandparents I.B. and Vennie Belew.
A loving memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at the McLemoresville C.P.C.A. Church, 180 Adams Street in McLemoresville.
LUCILLE KEMP BARLOW
MCKENZIE: Lucille Kemp Barlow, 90, died Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at Hillview Nursing Home. Funeral services were Friday, July 13 at 11:00 a.m. at McKenzie Church of Christ with Bro. John Forgy officiating. Interment followed at Poplar Springs Cemetery, Atwood.
Mrs. Barlow was born December 9, 1921, in Cades to the late J.W. and Lela Maude Longworth. She was a member of McKenzie Church of Christ and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband William E. Murray, her daughter Ruth Ann Jones and her sister Thelma Longworth.
Mrs. Barlow is survived by: her husband, Karl Barlow of McKenzie; two step-daughters, Robin Barlow (Jeff) Thompson, of McKenzie, and Kristi Barlow Oakley, of Kingston Springs; one sister, Brooxie White, of Palmersville; two grandsons; five step-grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. In Lieu of flowers the family has asked for memorials to be made to the Diabetes Research.

EDWIN WHITNEY “E.W.” SMITH JR.
CEDAR GROVE: Edwin Whitney “E.W.” Smith, Jr. 78, of Cedar Grove, died Thursday, July 12, 2012 at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, July 15, 2012 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home. Interment followed in Hickory Flat Cemetery. Bro. Greg Stanford officiated the service.
Mr. Smith was born November 29, 1933 in Carroll County to the late Edwin Whitney Smith Sr. and Hattie Walls Smith. He was a retired mill operator for Ormet Company, a member of the Hickory Flat United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Mattie McAlexander and one brother, Julian Smith.
He is survived by: his wife of 57 years, Mary Ruth Smith; two daughters, Paula (Bryan) Rogers, and Teresa (Keith) Jackson; one son, Tim (Sheila) Smith, all of Cedar Grove; one sister, Patsy Floyd, of Holly Springs, MS; six grandchildren; and two great-grand children.
MICHAEL DWAYNE “MIKE” MCLEMORE
HUNTINGDON: Michael Dwayne “Mike” McLemore, 67, of Huntingdon, died at his home on Sunday, July 15, 2012, after an extended illness. Services will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Huntingdon First United Church on Asbury Circle. Visitation will be observed at Dilday-Carter Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 17, beginning at 3:00 p.m.
Mr. McLemore was born May 8, 1945 in Madison County to the late Marion C. McLemore and Meredith Crews McLemore. He will be remembered for his contributions to his chosen field of water fowling. In lieu of flowers, Mike requested that donations be made to his church, Huntingdon First United Methodist Church or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
He is survived by: his wife of 44 years, Anita Butler McLemore; one son, Hunter (Brandi) McLemore, of Huntingdon; two daughters, Holly (Cliff) Kelley, of Huntingdon, and Mallary (Trey) Mardis, of Madison, Missouri; and five grandchildren.
MALQUIN B. HILL-ALLPHIN
CEDAR GROVE: Malquin B. Hill-Allphin, 67, of Cedar Grove, died Saturday, July 7, 2012 at her home. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, July 11 at noon at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. Burial followed in the Allphin Cemetery. Father Anthony Cook officiated the services.
Mrs. Hill-Allphin was born July 28, 1944, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Malquin (Bob) Hill and Norma Ann Jenke Hill. She was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church and a retired engineer. She was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Michael Allphin.
She is survived by: her husband, Robert Rodion Allphin; three sons, James Allphin, Peter A. Allphin, and Alexander T. Allphin; two daughters, Soultana E. Diaz and Eleanor H. Scimenti; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

BROOXIE MAE PINSON
VALE: Brooxie Mae Pinson, 96, of Vale, died Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at Huntingdon Health & Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were conducted on Friday, July 13, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Dilday-Carter Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Chapel Hill Cemetery. Brother Paul Brinkley officiated the services.
Mrs. Pinson was born March 2, 1916 in Carroll County to the late Walter Perritt and Bonnie Edwards Perritt. She was a member of the Chapel Hill Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, L.W. (Doc) Pinson; four brothers, Manuel Perritt, Max Perritt, Harold Perritt, and Wal-T Perritt; and two sisters, Ruth Abernathy and Lucille Perritt.
She is survived by: a daughter, Charlotte (Bobby) Rayburn, of Bruceton; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
JIMMY KEITH PRUITT
HENRY: Jimmy Keith Pruitt, 54, of Henry, died Saturday, July 14, 2012 at his residence. Services will be held at a later time.
Mr. Pruitt was born on December 17, 1957, in McKenzie to the late Edward and Doris Higgins Pruitt. He attended Fairview Baptist Church of McKenzie, was in the US Navy in the late seventies and was a former employee of Colorite Plastics in McKenzie.
Survivors include: his wife, Faye Nelson Pruitt, of Henry; three daughters, Christie Fuzzell, Amanda Pruitt, and Kim (Tim) Layden; two sons, Jarrett Robertson and Tommy (Kessa) Riggs; six grandchildren; and two sisters, Carol and Teresa.
