1922-2012
TREZEVANT: Etta Virginia Smith, 89, died Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Jackson General Hospital. Funeral services were Saturday, February 11, at 2 p.m. at Brummitt Funeral Home, Trezevant with burial in Pleasant Green Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was born November 12, 1922 in McKenzie. She was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Trezevant and retired from Henry I Siegel in Trezevant. She was preceded in death by her mother, Etta B. Manns; one son, Bobby Smith; and one grandchild.
Survivors include: three daughters, Joyce Newbill of Trezevant, Patsy (Jack) Burns of Bartlett and Pamela (Jerry Wayne) Swearinger of Huron, Tennessee; one son Sherill (Wanda) Smith of Trezevant; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

CAROL JEAN DAVIDSON
1939-2012
HUNTINGDON: Carol Jean Davidson, 72, died Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Interment was Monday, February 13, at 10 a.m. in Elk Point Cemetery.
Mrs. Davidson was born June 2, 1939 in Elk Point, South Dakota to the late Alphonse Istas and Anna (Lanning) Verzani. She was a retired truck driver for Heyl Trucking Company.
Survivors include: two daughters; Lynnette Beard of Huntingdon and Lori Heiman of Alcester, South Dakota; four sons, Robert McConahie of Nashville, David Goodsell of Gardena, California, Doug Goodsell of Wyoming and Brett Goodsell of Hollywood, California; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

1961-2012
CLARKSBURG: Jerry Dale Thomas, 51, died Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Funeral services were Sunday, February 12, at 2 p.m. at Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Wilkinson officiating. Burial followed in Hampton Cemetery.
Mr. Thomas was born January 9, 1961 in Paris to the late Bobby Thomas and Doris Jean (Williams) Thomas. He was a steel worker for Republic Steel Doors. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Jeremy Thomas.
Survivors include: his wife of 17 years, Kathy Maness Thomas; one daughter, Mandy Thomas; one brother, Terry Leo (Terri Lynn) Thomas of Westport; and nieces and nephews.

MARTA “MARTY” JOAN TAYLOR
1950-2012
HUNTINGDON: Marta “Marty” Joan Taylor, 61, died Saturday, February 11, 2012 at her home. Funeral services were Tuesday, February 14, at 1 p.m. at Dilday-Carter Funeral Home with Bro. Don Rickets officiating. Burial followed in Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Taylor was born April 7, 1950 in New Albany, Mississippi to the late William Eugene Roberson and Mildred Carter Roberson. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Steven Eugene Roberson and Bruce Edwin Roberson.
Survivors include: her husband, Reggie Taylor of Huntingdon; four sons, Michael Ray Taylor of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Bryan Keith Taylor and Reggie L. Taylor, both of Huntingdon, and Curtis Shane Taylor of Blytheville, Arkansas; four daughters, Tracey Lynn Atchley of Kizer, Arkansas, Pamela Sue Shields and Erica Marie Sparks, both of Huntingdon, and Marta Devin Harston of Lepanto, Arkansas; four sisters, Patty Sue Cash of Marked Tree, Arkansas, Karen Lynn Murphy of Joyner, Arkansas, and Tina Marie Cash and Sherry Faye Robertson, both of Huntingdon; 25 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

BENNIE (BEN) EDWARD SWAFFORD, SR.
1945-2012
LEXINGTON: Bennie (Ben) Edward Swafford, Sr., 66, died Tuesday, February 7, at Henderson County Community Hospital.
Mr. Swafford was born October 11, 1945 in Cedar Grove to the late Dee Swafford and Elise (Beal) Swafford. He was a self-employed painter. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Danette Marlene Swafford; and a brother, Billy Swafford.
Survivors include: his wife, Brenda Sue Hedge Swafford; one son, Bennie Edward Swafford, Jr.; one daughter, Sherry Denise Swafford Sipes; one sister, Gladis Swafford Maytack; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

SPRINGVILLE: Jim D. Barber, 58, died Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Funeral services are Saturday, February 18.
Mr. Barber was born March 20, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois. He was a self-employed auto wholesaler, auto sales manager for the Schilling Organization in Memphis, and member of Amvets Post 45. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Barber; one sister, Brenda Jones; and one brother, Jerry Barber.
Survivors include: his wife, Jean Heath Barber of Springville; his mother, Doris Jenkins Elliott of Dyer; one daughter, Ginger (Glenn) Haley of Olive Branch, Mississippi; one son, Jimmy Dale Barber, Jr. of Olive Branch, Mississippi; one sister, Katrina Cotham of Atwood; one brother, Dean (Diana) Barber of Dickson; and three grandchildren.

TREZEVANT: Jimmy Coleman Malone, 65, died Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services are Wednesday, February 15, at 2 p.m. at Temple Baptist Church, Milan with burial in Trezevant Cemetery.
Visitation is Tuesday at Temple Baptist Church from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 12 noon until service time.
Mr. Malone was born November 15, 1946 to the late Mahlon and Ruth Evelyn Malone. He was a former City Councilman in Trezevant, an engineer for Windsor Republic in McKenzie, a member and Deacon of Temple Baptist Church in Milan and a member of the Trezevant Men’s Club.
Survivors include: one daughter, Bethany Malone of Trezevant; four sisters, Martha Ruth (Steve) Parvin of Starkville, Mississippi, Billie Carmon (Eddie) Beaty of Baldwyn, Mississippi, Amelia (Bobby) Lewellen of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Glenda Turner of Baldwyn, Mississippi; two brothers, Jack (Patsy) Malone of McKinney, Texas, and Jerry (Renea) Malone of Corinth, Mississippi; one grandson, Marshall Branson Leach; and a special friend, Charlotte Davis of Baldwyn, Mississippi.

MCKENZIE: Legion Harris Morris, 82, died Sunday, January 29, 2012 at his home. Funeral services were Saturday, February 4, at 2 p.m. at McKenzie Funeral Home with Bro. Eddie Mallonee officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Mr. Morris was born May 3, 1929 in Bells to the late Flerry and Nancy Osborne Morris. He was a machinist and production employee at McDonald Douglas in Long Beach, California, ITT in Milan, and Tennessee Metals in Huntingdon. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in McKenzie and was a Korean War U.S. Army veteran from 1952-1955 serving in Germany and retired from the U.S. Army. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Morris.

Survivors include: his wife of 56 years, Katie Jean Williams Morris of McKenzie; a daughter, Tammy (A.B.) Marlar of Sharon; a son, Ken (Debi) Morris of Union City; a sister, Jeanette Christopherson of Olympia, Washington; a brother, Lofton (Reba) Morris of Greenfield; nine grandchildren, Christopher Cozart and Karen Cozart of McKenzie, Adam Marlar of Sharon, Elizabeth Marlar of Greenfield, Chris Marlar of Franklin, Louisiana, Jay (Liz) Morris of Union City, Kendra (Chuck) Nash of Troy, Lauren Morris of McKenzie, Michelle (Adam) Strayer of Crossville, Tennessee; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Nelson was born October 30, 1922 in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee to the late John G. Kilburn and Florence Gordon. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Nelson, Sr. and four sisters, Katie Yates, Martha Lewis, Ruby Stevens, and Ruth Kilburn.

DRESDEN: Joseph Eugene Crawford, 91, died Friday, February 3, 2012 at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Funeral services were Monday, February 6, at 11 a.m. at Dresden First United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Earheart officiating.
Mr. Crawford was born February 23, 1920 in Dresden to the late Joseph Basil and Polly Sanderfer Crawford. He was a farmer and businessman in Dresden, an active member of the Dresden First United Methodist Church, a 1943 graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, a former businessman in Jackson, and a United States Army World War II veteran. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Stella Flint; and a brother, Don Crawford.
Survivors include: his wife, Marjorie Elizabeth Warmath Crawford of Dresden; one daughter, Polly Beth (Donald) Glover of Sevierville; two sons, Jim (Sharon) Crawford of Springville and Joe Crawford of Dresden; one sister, Opal Pentecost of Dresden; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
The family has asked to please consider a memorial to be made to the Dresden First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 105 South Church Street, Dresden, TN 38225.

Mrs. Douglas was born February 25, 1967 in Huntingdon to the late Robert Allen Arnold and Lucy Alberta Sullivan Arnold. She worked in dietary for Life Care of Bruceton. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Arnold.
Survivors include: her husband, Justin Lee Douglas of Bruceton; three sons, Joseph Lee Douglas of Camden, Robert Lee Douglas and Zachary Douglas, both of Bruceton; two sisters, Diane Williams and Betty Vetsch, both of Camden; and one brother, Tony Arnold of Bruceton.

1937-2012
HUNTINGDON: William Franklin “Bill” Coleman, 74, died Monday, January 30, 2012 at Life Care Center of Bruceton. Funeral services were Thursday, February 2, at 1 p.m. at Ridgeway Funeral Home in Paris with John Coleman officiating. Burial followed in Chapel Hill Methodist Cemetery in Huntingdon.
Mr. Coleman was born February 17, 1937 to the late Eulas Grant Coleman and Georgia Bell Lowe Coleman. He was retired from Gaines Manufacturing in McKenzie and was a member of Eastview Baptist Church in Huntingdon. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Faye Vinard Coleman; and two sisters, Betty Lee and one in infancy.
Survivors include: two sons, John (Denise) Coleman of Dyer and Standley (Jackie) Coleman of Camden; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

HENRY: Dan R. Perry, 73, died Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Alive Hospice at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville. Funeral services were Thursday, February 2, at 1 p.m. at McEvoy Funeral Home with Dr. Rob Martin and Dr. Joe Geary officiating. Burial followed in New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Perry was born October 2, 1938 in Henry to the late Robert C. Perry and Virgie Dinkins Perry. He graduated from Henry High School in 1957, was a member of First United Methodist Church in Paris, Florrissant, Missouri Lions Club, retired insurance agent with Farmers Insurance Group in Florissant, Missouri and veteran of the U.S. Army.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Robbie Taylor and Betty Lawrence.
Survivors include: his wife, Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Perry of Henry; three sisters, Helen Stubbs of Dade City, Florida, Reba Edwards of Raphine, Virginia, and Dona Robbins of Ocala, Florida; and one brother, R.C. Perry of McKenzie.

JERRY LEE SCOTT
DICKSON: Jerry Lee Scott, 72, died Sunday, February 5, 2012. Graveside servics are Sunday, February 12, at 2 p.m. at the Union Academy Cemetery. Visitation in Dickson is at the Taylor Funeral Home on Saturday, February 11, from 12 noon until 4 p.m. Visitation will also be held in McKenzie at Brummitt Funeral Home from 12 noon until 1:30 p.m. Sunday, February 12.
Mr. Scott was born February 23, 1939 in McKenzie to the late Bessie Lee Scott and James Scott. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, LeAndra Star February 2, 1986.

He was married on April 9, 1977 to Sue Elaine Bergrun. He worked for over 40 years as a cytotechnologist in Florida, Colorado, and most recently at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. He co-authored a book Diagnostic Pulmonary Cytology, pioneering methods of micro-photography. He was passionate about food, family, photography, air craft and space.
Survivors include: one son, Geoffrey L. (Cheryl) Scott of Dickson; one daughter, Kenya Star Harris of Normal, Illinois; one sister, Ruth (Junior) Owen of McKenzie; and eight grandchildren.

BUENA VISTA: John Rylan Robinson, 24, died Tuesday, January 31, 2012 from injuries he received in an automobile accident. Funeral services were Friday, February 3, at 2 p.m. at Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Ted Gentle officiating. Burial followed in Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Robinson was born April 19, 1987 in Jackson. He was an honor graduate of Murray State University with a Criminal Justice Degree, a graduate of Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central High School, served as the equipment manager for the Murray State and Hollow Rock-Bruceton football team, and a member of Shepard’s Chapel in Arkansas and Hollow Rock Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Weldon Lee Robinson and Cora Mabel (Higdon) Robinson; maternal grandparents, Carl Neal Handley and Dorothy Lee (Matthews) Handley.
Survivors include: his parents, Joseph and Cathey (Handley) Robinson of Buena Vista; one brother, Chas Robinson of Buena Vista; and one nephew.

Ms. Evans was born December 12, 1919 in Cook County, Illinois to the late Harry Case Tobias and Laura (Keegan) Tobias. She was a homemaker.

James S. Daniel and Bro. Bob Conley officiating. Burial followed in Hebron Church Cemetery near Bruceton.
Mrs. Rummage was born May 23, 1938 in Carroll County to the late Elzie Glenn Brewer and Lela Lurene Pate Brewer. She was a seamstress for HIS Co. and a Baptist in faith. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Rummage; and a sister, Alice Barnes.
Survivors include: one daughter, Sonya McMackins of Hollow Rock; three sisters, Gloria McGee and Janice Umstead, both of Huntingdon, and Mary Thompson of Oklahoma; one brother, Bobby Glenn Brewer of Huntingdon; and two grandsons.

HUNTINGDON: Shirley Ann Spivey, 75, died Monday, January 23, 2012 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were Wednesday, January 25, at 11 a.m. at Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Spivey officiating. Burial followed in Clark Cemetery.

Mrs. Spivey was born April 30, 1936 in West Plains, Missouri to the late Lewis Alexander York and Janey (Meyers) York. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Paris. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Judy Pressley and Helen Pollard; and two brothers; John Riley York and Robert York.

MCKENZIE: Helen Marie Burns, 95, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, January 28, 2012. A Celebration of Life Service is Thursday, February 2, at 11 a.m. at Brummitt Funeral Home with a committal service at Archer’s Chapel Cemetery, Halls, Tennessee at 2:30 p.m.
Visitation is Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. until service time.
Mrs. Burns was born April 6, 1916 to the late Jessie and Rose Proctor. She was a homemaker and a member of Liberty United Methodist Church. Her favorite Bible verse was I Corinthians, chapter 2, verse 9: No eye has seen, No ear has heard What god has prepared for those who love him.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Franklin Burns; and one daughter, Annette Forsythe.
Survivors include: three daughters, Barbara (Gene) Warren of McKenzie, Ernestine Burns of McKenzie and Nancy Burns of Memphis; 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.

Mr. Williams was born March 9, 1992 in Jackson. He was a member of the New Liberty Missionary Baptist Church in Clarksburg and the Carroll County Coon Hunters Association. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, William Collins.
Survivors include: his father, Gordon Williams of Clarksburg and his mother, Lisa Collins Rimer of Cedar Grove; one sister, Misty Collins Moore of Cedar Grove; one brother, Matthew Chase Williams of Clarksburg; paternal grandparents, Larry and Belinda Williams of Clarksburg; and maternal grandmother, Mary Ellis of Huntingdon.

Mrs. Vowell was born January 28, 1929 in Martin to the late Curtis Smith and Flota Mae (Cherry) Smith. She was a retired seamstress for the Kellwood Company and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Huntingdon and also in Sharon. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Vowell; one daughter, Linda Cantrell; one grandson; two sisters, Evelyn Smith and Wilma Klenke; and one brother, James Smith.
Survivors include: one daughter, Kay (Darrell) Douglas of Huntingdon; three granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Hatch was born August 15, 1954 in Huntingdon. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, James Leonard Hatch.

Miss Wilson was born December 14, 1952, in Huntingdon to the late Frances Wilson and Pearle Wiggleton Wilson. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Vernon, Cleveland, Tommy, and William; and three sisters, Pauline, Madeline and Dorothy.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

LARRY D. DOWDY
1933-2012
BRUCETON: Larry D. Dowdy, 78, died Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Cornerstone Health Care in McKenzie. Funeral services were Friday, January 27, at 2 p.m. at Marlboro Church of Christ with Bro. Joe Abbott officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Dowdy was born August 19, 1933 in Carroll County to the late W.C. Dowdy and Ethel Ownby Dowdy. He was a retired employee of Emerson Electric and a member of the Marlboro Church of Christ. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Inez Dowdy.
Survivors include: his wife, Patricia S. Dowdy; three stepsons, Franklin King of Dickson, Tony Melton of Orlando, Florida and Michael Melton of Paris; and three step-grandchildren.
