1925-2011
MCKENZIE: Joe C. Smith, 86, died Thursday, September 22, 2011 at his home. Funeral services were Saturday, September 24, at 11 a.m. at Brummitt Funeral Home with burial in Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery, McKenzie.
Mr. Smith, a farmer, was born July, 1925, in McKenzie, to the late Ivy B and Florence Smith. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Catherine Cowell; and two brothers, Leslie Smith and Eugene Smith.
Survivors include: his wife, Elizabeth C. Smith of McKenzie; one daughter, Donna Crossno of Huntingdon; one sister, Carolyn Pinson of Trezevant; two granddaughters, Denise (Allen) Pyburn and Delilah Mummel; and three great-grandchildren, Mason, Ethan and Olivia Pyburn.

BOBBY G. HAMES
1937-2011
TREZEVANT: Bobby G. Hames, Sr., 74, died Monday, October 3, 2011 at Oak Manor Health Care Center, McKenzie. Funeral services are Tuesday, October 4, 2 p.m. at Brummitt Funeral Home with burial in Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery, McKenzie.
Mr. Hames was born June, 1937 in Trezevant to the late Ira and Purlean G. Hames. He was a retired construction worker. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill Hames and J.T. Hames.
Survivors include: three sons, Bobby (Gail) Hames, Jr. of McEwen, Jeffrey (Becky) Hames and Robert (Becky) Hames, both of Gleason; two sisters, Martha Ann Buchanan of Memphis, and Joelene (Kenneth) Walker of McEwen; two brothers, Randall Hames of McKenzie and Kethal (Diane) Hames of Cedar Grove; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

WILMA SUE GOFF DARNALL
1947-2011
HUNTINGDON: Wilma Sue Goff Darnall, 64, died Sunday, October 2, 2011 at her home. Funeral services are Wednesday, October 5, at 11 a.m. at the Huntingdon Church of Christ with Bro. Dan Winkler officiating. Burial will follow in Clark Cemetery.
Mrs. Darnall was born January 2, 1947 in Chester County. After graduating high school she attended Freed Hardeman University for one year and then became a very loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Huntingdon Church of Christ and active in the Relay for Life. She was preceded in death by her father, Ebb Goff and one stepson, Mitchell Darnall.
Survivors include: her beloved husband of 42 years, James Darnall; her son, Joey (Krista) Darnall; one stepson, Jimmy (Melissa) Darnall; her mother, Juanita Goff; one sister, Dorothy Patterson; one granddaughter; four step-grandsons; one step-great-granddaughter; nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to: American Cancer Society, c/o Karen Pierce, 353 Knox Street, Huntingdon, TN 38344; St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942; or Relay for Life (team of your choice).

NANIE PEARL MITCHELL
1913-2011
MCLEMORESVILLE: Nanie Pearl Mitchell, 97, died Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were Tuesday, October 4, at 11 a.m. at Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Rogers officiating.  Burial followed in Carroll Memorial Gardens. 
Mrs. Mitchell was born in Lavinia to the late James Marvin and Ada Mae (McLemore) Burns.  She was a member of the Trezevant Church of Christ, retired from Farm Bureau as a tax practitioner for 19 years.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Gorden Mitchell; three sisters, and five brothers.
Survivors include: five daughters, Toni Mitchell (Randall Remmel) of Apollo Beach, Florida, Julie Miller and Joyce Arnold, both of McLemoresville, Sue (Billy Ray) Bush of McKenzie, Dixie Willoughby of Milan; one brother, Courtney June Burns of Lavinia; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

VIRGINIA ANNE HOOFMAN
1938-2011
PARIS: Virginia Anne Hoofman, 73, died Sunday, October 2, 2011 at Oak Manor Health Care Center in McKenzie. Funeral services are Wednesday, October 5, at 2 p.m. at Ridgeway Funeral Home in Paris with Johnny Farmer officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery in Paris.
Mrs. Hoofman was born January 17, 1938 in Buchanan to the late Elijah Ray Moody and Lou Leslie Dodson Moody. She was employed at Emerson Electric for 11 years, retired co-owner/operator Hoffman’s BBQ for 28 years; and was a member of Bethany Missionary Baptist Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Velma Davis and Elna Townsend; and two brothers, Nathan and Earl Moody.
Survivors include: her husband, Jerry Hoofman of Paris; one daughter, Karen (Terry) Wheatley of Cottage Grove; one son, Dennis Hoofman of Paris; six sisters, Elnora Adkins of Henry, Martha Landrum, Helen Evans and Gearldyne Williams, all of Paris, Oneida (Dave) Cobb of Benton Harbor, Michigan, and Wilma (Ralph) Jackson of Bowie, Texas; three brothers, Ronald (Ann) Moody of DeArmsville, Alabama, LeRoy (Peggy) Moody of Stewart, Tennessee, and James (Floyd) Moody of Romulus, Michigan; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

FLORIDA: Alice Lavern Scott Meek, 91, formerly of McKenzie, died Monday, October 3, 2011 in Florida. A memorial service will be held later.

MCKENZIE: Jennifer Eva Earley Nolan, 38, died Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at her home. Funeral services are Wednesday, October 5, at 3 p.m. at McKenzie First Cumberland Presbyterian Church with burial in Everett’s Chapel Cemetery near McKenzie.
Survivors include: her parents, Harry and Shirley Clark Earley of McKenzie; husband, Kenneth Nolan of McKenzie; one daughter, Katelynn Elizabeth Nolan of McKenzie; two brothers, David Troy Earley of McKenzie and Robert Dwayne Earley.

1936-2011
MCKENZIE: James R. Dunn, 75, died Sunday, September 25, 2011 at his home. Funeral services were Tuesday, September 27, at 11 a.m. at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. Paul “Bud” Merwin officiating. Burial followed in Shiloh Cemetery.
Mr. Dunn was born May 7, 1936 in Henry County to the late Robert Verdell Dunn and Ellen Larue Smith Dunn. He was a retired school teacher and former school bus driver at Henry School, member of Master Gardeners, long-time member of Henry Baptist Church, farmed in the Henry community, and volunteered with Henry County Helping Hands.
Survivors include: his wife, Ann Dinwiddie Dunn of McKenzie; five sons, Dwayne (Regina Welch) Dunn of Dyersburg, Doug (Sharon) Dunn of Signal Mountain, Tennessee, Darryl (Betsy) Dunn of Henry, Donald (Karine) Dunn of Paris and Dwight (Caroline) Dunn of Murfreesboro; one sister, Patricia (Bobby) Sanders of Springville; and six grandchildren.

GLEASON: Dorothy Faye Weldon, 68, died Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Henry County Healthcare. Funeral services were Tuesday, September 27, at 11 a.m. at Williams Funeral Home of Gleason with Carl Applegate officiating. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery in Martin.
Mrs. Weldon was born August 10, 1943 in Paris to the late Mitchell Hodges and Iva Bell (McWherter) Hodges. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include: her husband, Horace Weldon of Gleason; four daughters, Bonnie Woodruff and Belinda Dixon, both of Dresden, Mary Jane Smith of Georgia, and Pam Weldon of McKenzie; one brother, Bernis Hodges of Dresden; and five grandchildren.

HUNTINGDON: Joyce Ann “Big Momma” Smith, 48, died Sunday, September 25, 2011 at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were Tuesday, September 27, at 1 p.m. at Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Osker Seiber and Bro. James Groves officiating. Burial followed in Seller’s Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was born January 19, 1963 in Lawton, Oklahoma. She was a member of the Tabernacle of the Living God in Milan and was a caregiver for Easter Seals. She was preceded in death by her father, Marshall Rowland.
Survivors include: her husband of seven years, James H. Smith; mother, Rita Rowland of Huntingdon; two daughters, Lori (O.J.) Seiber of Atwood and Ryan Balentine of Huntingdon; one stepdaughter, Ashley Smith of Huntingdon; one son, Joshua (Bridget) Balentine of Huntingdon; two stepsons, Jimmy Smith and Jeffery Smith, both of Huntingdon; two sisters, Debbie (Phillip) Laws of Huntingdon and Tammy Rowland of Milan; one brother, Bennie (Caroline) Rowland of Atwood; and seven grandchildren.

HUNTINGDON: Jimmy Lee Wright, 67, died Friday, September 23, 2011 at his home. Funeral services were Monday, September 26, at 11 a.m. at Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Fred Ward officiating. Burial followed in Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Wright was born August 21, 1944 in Bruce, Mississippi to the late Eugene Wright and Vera Ruth (McCormick) Wright. He was a used car dealer for Poor Man Auto Sales, a member of First Baptist Church Huntingdon and he served in the United States Navy during the Cuban Crisis. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Sherman Wright.
Survivors include: his wife of 39 years, Patricia Lynn (Allison) Wright; two daughters, Rhonda Sanford and Rene Dupree, both of Huntingdon; three brothers, Billy (Berta) Wright of Holladay, Shelby (Ann) Wright of Branson, Missouri, and Jerry (DJ) Wright of Chickasha, Oklahoma; and four granddaughters.

1926-2011
HUNTINGDON: James Bernice Sanders, 85, died Thursday, September 22, 2011 at Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were Sunday, September 25, at 2 p.m. at Chase Funeral Home with Dr. Steve Atwood and Bro. Mike Bowers officiating. Burial followed in Palmer Shelter Cemetery.
Mr. Sanders was born August 7, 1926 in Holladay, Tennessee to the late William Tell Sanders and Mary Opal (Quillen) Sanders. He was a retired boiler maker for the Veteran Hospital in St. Louis, a member of Eastview Baptist Church and the Huntingdon Masonic Lodge #106.
Survivors include: his wife of 66 years, Imogene (Smith) Sanders; four daughters, Barbara (Pete) Shoup of Houston, Texas, Judy (Alan) Brinkman of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Trisha Sanders (husband Jim Shiner) of Huntingdon, and Cynthia (Nick) Gonzalez of Clarksville; two sons, Michael (Jane) Sanders of Spring, Texas and Bill (Jamie) Sanders, both of Huntingdon; two sisters, Ruby Allen of McKenzie and Brooke (Charlie) Hodges of Huntingdon; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

WILLIAM “BUDDY” AQUILLA JOURDAN, JR.
HOLLOW ROCK: William “Buddy” Aquilla Jourdan, Jr. 68, died Sunday, September 18, 2011 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were Thursday, September 22, at 12 p.m. at Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Wendell Boyd officiating. Burial followed in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Benton County.
Mr. Jourdan was born April 15, 1943 in Evansville, Indiana to the late William Aquilla Jourdan, Sr. and Verlie Pauline (Williams) Jourdan. He was a retired stationary engineer for Local 399 Union, an avid bowler and stock car racer. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Melody Jourdan; and one son, Leroy Jourdan.
Survivors include: four sisters, Susie Grant of Burbank, Illinois, Lyl Jourdan of Bridgeview, Illinois, June Cox of Logan, West Virginia, and Ethel Ellis of Hollow Rock; one brother, Rick Webb of Las Vegas, Nevada; and one grandson.

HUNTINGDON: Roberta Jean James, 83, died Friday, September 23, 2011 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were Monday, September 26, at 10 a.m. at Dilday-Carter Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Walker officiating. Burial followed in Liberty All Cemetery.
Mrs. James was born September 16, 1928 to the late Hern and Mary Louise Sampson Newbill. She was a retired production worker for Publix Shirt and a member of Liberty All Methodist Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl James.
Survivors include: one brother, Marshall (Jean) Newbill of Huntingdon; nieces and nephews.

DONNA MICHELE THOMAS TAYLOR
1968-2011
BRUCETON: Donna Michele Thomas Taylor, 42, died Saturday, September 24, 2011 at her parents’ home. Memorial services were Sunday, September 25, at 3 p.m. at Humbles Baptist Church with Bro. Matthew Floyd officiating. Cremation followed.
Ms. Taylor was born December 8, 1968 in Bartow, Florida. She was office manager for Medical Center and Pentecostal in faith.
Survivors include: one daughter, Brittany Michele Taylor of Bruceton; one son, Daniel Anthony Taylor of Bruceton; and her parents, Glyn and Doris Dean Thomas of Bruceton.

DRESDEN: Jordan Lee Stout, 12, died Saturday, September 24, 2011, at LeBonheur Children's Medical Center in Memphis. Funeral services were Tuesday, September 27, at 2 p.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden with Gale Davidson officiating. Burial followed in Sunset Cemetery in Dresden.
Jordan was born April 19, 1999 in Union City. He was a student at Dresden Middle School and was the basketball manager for the Dresden Middle School basketball team. He attended Union Chapel Church of Christ in Palmersville. Survivors include: his father, Troy Blake Stout of Dresden; his mother, Chloe Baker Stout of Dresden; two sisters, Taylor Stout of Dresden, and Heather Lynn of Holladay; a brother, Andrew Stout of Dresden; grandparents, Joe H. and Ellon Stout of Greenfield, Sandra and Donald Drewry of McKenzie, Vergie Jones of Bruceton, and Jackson O. Baker of Atwood.
