BEN FRANKLIN DILL, 1942-2010

SPRINGVILLE: Ben Franklin Dill, 68, died October 7, 2010, at his home. Funeral services were Sunday, October 10, 1 p.m. at Brummitt Funeral Home with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, McKenzie.

Mr. Dill was born in McKenzie on May 1, 1942 to the late William Clyde and Mary Margaret Smith Dill. He was an Air Force veteran, a member of the VFW, American Legion and the Moose Lodge. Before retiring, he was a machinist for General Motors. After retiring, he moved to Springville near Kentucky Lake. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, William Kelly Dill.

Survivors include: two sons, James Dill of Indianapolis, Indiana and Glenn Dill of Noblesville, Indiana; one sister, Barbara (Frank) Shiney of McKenzie; two brothers, Sam (Sandy) Dill of Indianapolis, Indiana and Dan (Beverly) Dill of Senatobia, Mississippi.

DOYLE D. "BUDDY" BARKER, SR., 1936-2010

LOWELL, INDIANA: Doyle D. "Buddy" Barker, Sr., 74, died Monday, October 4, 2010. Funeral services were Friday, October 8, 11 a.m. at Sheets Funeral Home with Pastor Don McConnell officiating. Burial followed in Lake Prairie Cemetery in Lowell, Indiana.

Mr. Barker was born April 4, 1936.

Survivors include: his wife, Carolyn "Sue" Barker; six sons, Doyle, Jr., Craig, Mark, Stephen, Danny, and Phillip; two daughters, Lisa Bendoraitis and Carla Herr; two sisters Ann Ferrell and Bonnie Marrison of McKenzie; 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

CATHERINE BEAUTON MALRAY, 1919-2010

MILAN, INDIANA: Catherine Beauton Malray, 91, formerly of McKenzie, died Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Ripley Crossing in Milan, Indiana. Funeral services were Saturday, October 9, at 10 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church in McKenzie with Bro. Claude Prince officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Mrs. Malray was born September 2, 1919 in Weakley County to the late Jess and Fronie Byars Rushing. She was a former retail clerk for a bridal shop and homemaker and member of Bethel Baptist Church in McKenzie.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Malray; one daughter, Carol Bateman; one son, Tommy Malray; one grandson, Jarred Egbert; one sister and three brothers.
Survivors include: one daughter, Tracey (Dan) Egbert of Milan, Indiana; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

FRANKLIN G. "GIL" CHESNUT, JR., 1952-2010

RUSSELLVILLE, ARKANSAS: Franklin G. "Gil" Chesnut, Jr., 58, died Sunday, October 3, 2010, at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center. A graveside service was held on October 7 at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Russellville, Arkansas with the Rev. Glynn D. Craine officiating.

Mr. Chesnut was born May 19, 1952 in Memphis to the late Rev. Franklin Gilmore and Laurelyn Travillian Chesnut. He was the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Travillian of McKenzie. He graduated from Russellville High School in 1970 and Peabody College in 1974, with a Bachelor's of Arts and again in 1975, with a Master of Library Science. He was a former librarian at Bethel College in McKenzie. Also he was the former owner of Record Exchange in Jonesboro, Arkansas and was formerly employed by Books Unlimited in Russellville, Arkansas.

Survivors include: one sister, Kathy (David) Craine of Fort Smith, Arkansas and other relatives and friends.

ROY ALFRED KEE, 1932 - 2010

CEDAR GROVE: Roy Alfred Kee, 78, died Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were Tuesday, October 12, at 2 p.m. at Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Donald Ricketts, Jr. officiating. Burial followed in Christian Chapel Cemetery.

Mr. Kee was born June 8, 1932 to the late Virgil and Florence Kelly Kee in Cedar Grove. He was a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Huntingdon and was a retired self-employed timber cutter. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Lynn Bullington Kee; one son, Rex Allen Kee; one sister, Madie Hall; eight brothers, Arthur Kee, Otha Kee, Luke Kee, Odell (Buck) Kee, Jack Kee, Arvil Kee, J. C. (Jake) Kee, and Donnie Kee.

Survivors include: two grandchildren, Tim (Christen) Kee of Huntingdon and Chasity Kee of Cedar Grove; two great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ethel Holland of Huntingdon and Leota Baker of Cedar Grove.

LOU ANN GATELEY, 1970 - 2010

CEDAR GROVE: Lou Ann Gateley, 40, died Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Funeral services were Monday, October 11, at 11 a.m. at Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Dwayne Brown officiating. Burial followed in Stanford Cemetery.

Mrs. Gateley was born April 28, 1970 in Dallas, Texas to the late Roy Michael Richardson, Sr. and Judith Ann Lockhart. She was a homemaker and a member of the House of Worship Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandchild, Baby Cole Latch.

Survivors include: her husband of twenty years, Brian Gateley; one daughter, Lacy Latch of Huntingdon; one son, Justin Gateley of Cedar Grove; four sisters, Kimmy Richardson, Christie Richardson, Misty Richardson, and Latisha Richardson, all of Texas; and two grandchildren.

NELLIE LAVERN TOWNSEND, 1929 - 2010

HUNTINGDON: Nellie Lavern Townsend, 81, died Monday, October 4, 2010 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Funeral services were Thursday, October 7, at 11 a.m. at Palmer Shelter United Methodist Church with Bro. Wayne Holmes and Bro. Lynn Stapleton officiating. Burial followed in Palmer Shelter Cemetery.

Mrs. Townsend was born May 7, 1929 in Carroll County to the late Gray Smothers and Helen (Davis) Smothers. She worked 21 years for Publix Shirt Company and worked many years for the Huntingdon Hot Lunch Program. At the time of her death, she was a homemaker and a member of the Palmer Shelter United Methodist Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Lou Willie Smothers; and three brothers, Marvin Smothers, Jamie Smothers, and Howard Smothers.

Survivors include: her husband of 66 years, James Townsend; one daughter, Brenda Townsend of Huntingdon; two sons, David (DeAnna) Townsend and Dennis (Karen) Townsend, both of Huntingdon; one brother, Garvin (Edith) Smothers of Bridgeview, Illinois; and four grandchildren.

MARSHALL FLEMMING ROWLAND, 1934 - 2010

HUNTINGDON: Marshall Flemming Rowland, 76, died Thursday, October 7, 2010 at his home. Funeral services were Saturday, October 9, at 11 a.m. at Chase Funeral Home with Bro. James Groves officiating. Burial followed in Sellers Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Rowland was born April 26, 1934 in Atoka, Tennessee to the late Oliver Rowland and Cora C. (Sherman) Rowland. He was retired from the United States Army; a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and a member of the Tabernacle of Living God of Milan. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe Rowland and Howard Rowland; and one sister, Betty Smith.

Survivors include: his wife of 49 years, Rita Rowland of Huntingdon; three daughters, Debbie (Phillip) Laws, and Joyce (James) Smith, both of Huntingdon, and Tammy Rowland of Atwood; one son, Bennie (Caroline) Rowland of Atwood; three brothers, Thurston Rowland of Millington, Floyd (Lorene) Rowland of Salsbury and Ray (Clara) Rowland of Mountain View, Arkansas; fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

HUNTINGDON: Ronda Anne Moore Resediz, 47, died Sunday, October 3, 2010. Funeral services were Saturday, October 9, at 1 p.m. at Medina Funeral Home.

Ms. Resediz was born June 21, 1962.

ROY LEE HODGES, 1938-2010

GLEASON: Roy Lee Hodges, 72, died Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were Saturday, October 9, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Gleason with Bro. Tom Spellings officiating. Burial followed in Hopewell Cemetery.

Mr. Hodges was born March 9, 1938 in Gleason to the late Roy Roscoe Hodges and Teena Alena (Bradberry) Hodges. He was a laborer and U.S. Air Force veteran.

Survivors include: his wife, Glenda Wray (Bogle) Hodges of Gleason; two sons, Doug (Tonya) Hodges and Tommy (Tina) Hodges, both of Gleason; one daughter, Darla (Ronnie) Boone of Paris; five sisters, Martha Nell Poyner of McKenzie, Virginia Jeter of Gleason, Betty Bell of Camden, Susan Bradberry and Janice Featherstone, both of Christmasville; one brother, Charles Hodges of Huntingdon; and four grandchildren.

THOMAS LLOYD RAINEY, 1925-2010

YUMA: Thomas Lloyd Rainey, 85, died Thursday, October 7, 2010 at the Veterans Hospital in Memphis. Funeral services were Sunday, October 10, at 3 p.m. at the Faith in Christ Ministries Church with Bro. Wayne Burton officiating. Burial followed in New Hope Cemetery.

Mr. Rainey was born January 17, 1925 in Yuma to the late Addison Eskew Rainey and Bevie (Wall) Rainey. He was a retired construction worker for TVA, a World War II veteran and a member of the Faith in Christ Church. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Rainey; and two brothers, Warren Rainey and Willie Rainey.

Survivors include: his wife of 56 years, Sara Rainey of Yuma; two daughters, Marsha Jester of Selmer and Alesia (William) Rhodes, both of Yuma; three sons, Warren and Davy Rainey of Huntingdon and Lloyd (Cathleen) Rainey of Memphis; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

J D WILSON, 1925-2010

PARIS: J D Wilson, 85, died Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at his home. Funeral services were Saturday, October 9, at 1 p.m. at McKenzie Funeral Home with burial in Everett's Chapel Cemetery with military burial honors.
Mr. Wilson was born February 1, 1925 in McKenzie to the late John Grant and Goldia Winsett Wilson. He was a retired truck driver, a WW II United States Marine Corps veteran, a life member of the Colin Kelly Post #17 Amvets in Chicago, Illinois serving as Post Commander.

Survivors include: his wife of 65 years, Mildred Carleen Lawrence Wilson of Paris; one daughter, Janet Darlene Nuich of Glenview, Illinois; two sons, Michael Lawrence Wilson of Roundlake Beach, Illinois and Robert Wayne Wilson of Paris; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

DWIGHT W. RAINEY, 1933-2010

MCKENZIE: Dwight W. Rainey, 77, died Sunday, October 10, at McKenzie Health Care Center. Funeral services are Tuesday, October 12, at 4 p.m. at McKenzie Church of Christ with Bro. Jim Roberts and Bro. David Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Carroll Memorial Gardens in McKenzie.
Mr. Rainey was born July 25, 1933 to the late Omer Rainey and Roberta Cole Rainey. He was a farmer and attended McKenzie Church of Christ.

Survivors include: one daughter, Donna (Rainey) Finley of McKenzie; one sister, Betty King of McKenzie; two brothers, Dorris Rainey of McKenzie and Delbert Rainey of Gleason; two grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

DOROTHY L. "DOTTIE" WILSON, 1925-2010

SOUTH BEND, INDIANA: Dorothy L. "Dottie" Wilson, 85, died Saturday, October 2, 2010 at the Golden Living Center in Mishawaka. Funeral services are Wednesday, October 6, at 10 a.m. at Hahn Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart.

Mrs. Wilson was born April 17, 1925 in Trezevant to the late Nevins and Mary (O'neill) Arnold. She married Theron Rust who died shortly after their marriage. She then married Shellie O. Dotson, Jr. on March 9, 1947. He died February 4, 1974. Then on December 3, 200 she married Dr. Doug J. Wilson, M.D. in South Bend.

She was employed as a medical assistant for several area physicians prior to her retirement and was a member of South Side Baptist Church in South Bend. She could often be found on her daily walk at the University Park Mall.

Survivors include: her husband, Dr. Doug J. Wilson; two sons, Richard A. (Pamela) Dotson of South Bend and Robert O. "Bobby" (Kim) Dotson of Granger; and three grandchildren, Brant, Ali and Haley Dotson.

LOUISA ATKISSON, 1911-2010

MCKENZIE: Louisa Atkisson, 99, died Friday, September 24, 2010 at McKenzie Regional Hospital. Funeral services were Wednesday, September 29, at 1 p.m. at Mt. Ararat Missionary Baptist Church, Trezevant with Bishop C.E. Pipkin officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Ararat Cemetery.

Mrs. Atkisson was born June 18, 1911 in Trezevant to the late Leonard and Cora Clay Mitchum. She was educated in the Carroll County school system and a member of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Atkisson; and two daughters, Bessie Lee Parker and Rosia Lee Parker.

Survivors include: two grandsons, three great-granddaughters, and six great-great-grandchildren.

NASHVILLE: James Robert Ballew, 31, died Monday, September 27, 2010 at Nashville General Hospital. Graveside funeral services were Wednesday, September 29, at 1 p.m. at New Valley Cemetery with Hurbert Reed officiating.

Mr. Reed was born July 5, 1979 in Nashville. He was a laborer.

Survivors include: his father, Robert Ballew of Gleason; mother, Debora (Demonbreun) Ballew of Gleason; one son, Cortez Robert Ballew of Nashville; one daughter, Alonda Ballew of Nashville; one stepson, Quadrous Ballew of Nashville; and one sister, April Shell of Gleason.

JAMIE EUGENE WHITE, 1922-2010

HUNTINGDON: Jamie Eugene White, 88, died Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Funeral services were Saturday, October 2, at 1 p.m. at Eastview Baptist Church with Dr. Steve Atwood, Bro. Mike Bowers and Judge John Everett Williams officiating. Burial followed in Long Rock Cemetery.

Mr. White was born August 19, 1922 in Carroll County to the late William White and Minnie (Merritt) White. He was retired from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a member of Eastview Baptist Church, and a Veteran of Foreign Wars. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Madeline Anderson; and five brothers, William White, Tom White, Ray White, Waldon White, and Welden White.

Survivors include: his wife of 56 years, Lucille White of Huntingdon; one daughter, Phyllis (David) Williams of Huntingdon; one son, Phil (Charlotte) White of Huntingdon; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

ELDON BOYD NOLEN, 1925 - 2010

HOLLOW ROCK: Eldon Boyd Nolen, 85, died Friday, October 1, 2010 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Funeral services were Sunday, October 3, at 2 p.m. at Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Boyd officiating. Burial followed in Jamison Cemetery.

Mr. Nolen was born February 15, 1925 in Dollar, Tennessee to the late William Edward Boyd and Lillie Viola (Boyd) Nolen. He was a retired electrician for the Geico Company, attended Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, was a member of the Woodmen of the World, American Legion, and the Disabled American Veterans. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Wade Nolen, Vernon Nolen, and Vibert Nolen; and one sister, Eddith Butler.

Survivors include: two daughters, Sherry (Max) Beal of Avondale, Arizona and Susanne (Don) Wilson of Brooklyn, Mississippi; two sisters, Wanda Faye Noles of Bruceton, and Kay Ward of Huntingdon; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

WILMA PAULINE MCKINNEY

MCKENZIE: Wilma Pauline McKinney, 81, died Friday, October 1, 2010, at McKenzie Regional Hospital. Funeral services were Sunday, October 3, 2 p.m. at Brummitt Funeral Home, McKenzie with burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Mrs. McKinney was born in Carroll County to the late Ernest and Rachel Reynolds Smith. She was a retired supervisor at McKenzie Pajama Factory and also co-owner of McKinney Hardware. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Jean Wilson.

Survivors include: her husband, Buddy McKinney of McKenzie; one son, Phillip (Marcy) McKinney of McKenzie; four brothers, Ray Smith of McLemoresville, Jerry Smith of Huntingdon, Murray Smith of Huntingdon and Marshall Smith of Camden; two grandchildren, Meredith McKinney Lovell and Austin McKinney; and one great-granddaughter, Maxie Lovell.

CLARENCE G. HAMPTON, 1940-2010

HUNTINGDON: Clarence G. Hampton, 70, died Monday, September 27, 2010 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were Friday, October 1, at 2 p.m. at Smyrna Missionary Baptist Church in Huntingdon with Rev. Lonnie Parker and Rev. Ivey Jamison officiating.

Mr. Hampton was born September 8, 1940 to the late Clarence and Ada Hampton. He attended Smyrna School and Hale Jr. High School and graduated from Webb High School in McKenzie. He was a member of Smyrna Missionary Baptist Church, sung in a gospel group called "Four Harps of Zion", and was a member of the Carroll County Laymen. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Sue Parker, Louise Hampton, and Ruth Manon Barnett; and three brothers, Will Arthur Hampton, James Johnson and W.C. Johnson.

Survivors include: seven children, Dequeena (Antonio) Johnson of Huntingdon, Laruth Jamison and Alfredia (Otha) Leach, both of Bruceton, Terrance Bell of Murfreesboro, Susie (Eric) Ratliff of Cordova, Kennon Johnson and Arthur Johnson, both of Memphis; three brothers, Lester (Mary) Johnson and Fred Johnson, both of Huntingdon, and Tice (Geneva) Hampton of Columbus, Ohio; three sisters, Mattie (Ivey) Jamison and Emma Nesbitt, both of Huntingdon, and Clozell Barnett of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

HUNTINGDON: Fannie Moore, 73, died Thursday, September 30, 2010 at Huntingdon Health & Rehab. Funeral services were Monday, October 4, at 1 p.m. at Smyrna Missionary Baptist Church with burial in Humble Cemetery.

Mrs. Moore was born April 9, 1937 in Huntingdon to the late James Gordon and Izoria Webb Johnson. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Henry Moore; and one child.

Survivors include: her children, Rose Etta (Ricky) Montgomery of Huntingdon, Mark Steve Moore of Paris, James Thomas Moore of Huntingdon, Nancy Pearl Moore of Huntingdon, Shirley Ann (Wallace) Cunningham of Humboldt, Tyler (Debra) Moore of McKenzie; one brother, William (Mary) Johnson of Cleveland, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

BERTHA ADELL TRULL SMOTHERS, 1922-2010

HOLLOW ROCK: Bertha Adell Trull Smothers, 88, died Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were Tuesday, October 5, at 10 a.m. at Marlboro Baptist Church with Bro. Jack Hopper officiating. Burial followed in Humbles Cemetery.

Mrs. Smothers was born April 4, 1922 in Humphreys County to the late Frank Trull and Jennie Mae (Maridith) Trull. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J. L. Smothers; a sister, Lela Mae Noles; and three brothers, Gilbert Trull, Barney Trull and David Trull. She was a member of Marlboro Baptist Church and a retired employee of the Henry I. Siegel Company.

Survivors include: one brother, Frank Trull of Huntingdon.
