The Lawrence County Historical Society will tour the Mississippi Department of Archives & History in Jackson on Tuesday, July 27. The group will be leaving the Lawrence County Civic Center at 8:00 a.m. The purpose of this trip is to view micro-film equipment and learn more about digitally preserving invaluable paper documents such as the Lawrence County Press. The Historical Society intends to purchase a new micro-film scanner/reader/printer for use in the Lawrence County Library Public Library. The group also plans to tour the "New Capitol" which was built under the direction of Lawrence County's own Governor Andrew H. Longino. This will be an enjoyable and educational experience.
