According to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, they are investigating a sewage leak near Fall Creek. DNR reports approximately 10,000 to 12,000 gallons of untreated wastewater was released into an unnamed tributary of Fall Creek on Wednesday. Reports indicate the wastewater made its way into Fall Creek; however it is unknown if any of the wastewater entered Lake Taneycomo. City of Branson Public Works employees have taken water samples from Fall Creek for testing and will take additional samples on Monday. Because the release of untreated sewage is a potential health and environmental hazard, the public is encouraged to avoid contact with the water in Fall Creek until further notice. The overflow lasted 15 minutes after an electrical outage at a lift station near Fall Creek Road.
