Monday afternoon Stone County commissioners interviewed three people interested in serving on the county's planning and zoning committee. For the Williams precinct, which includes Carr Lane, Sebastian Bemis and Cynthia Patrick were interviewed.

Interestingly, Bemis did not support the continuation of planning and zoning in the August election; in fact, he was one of the filers of the special ballot question.

Cynthia Patrick is a Republican committeewoman in the Williams precinct, who was asked by former board member Ruth Murray to volunteer for the planning and zoning committee.

James Garner and Mike Sherwood have both submitted their names for the vacant Pierce precinct board seat. Garner appeared before county commissioners Monday afternoon... Sherwood could not attend due to illness.

The McKinley precinct, which includes Abesville, also has a vacant seat on the planning and zoning board. No one has signed up for that position.

Commissioners will decide on the appointments Thursday morning.
