The Stone County Salary Commission, a board made up of all Stone County elected officials, met this morning to discuss a scheduled incremental pay increase for 2010. The board meets only in odd numbered years.
While sales tax revenues have declined in Stone County nearly 13-percent this year, some officials are reluctant to boost their own salary, even though the incremental pay increase has already been voted on and scheduled for 2010 according to the salary commission chairman, Prosecuting Attorney Matt Selby. Selby expressed his opinion that any changes to the schedule would take affect in 2011.
The board met for nearly an hour this morning but did not make a decision, other than to close the meeting and reconvene on November 30th. That meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. on the third floor of the old Stone County Courthouse at Galena.
