¿Cómo se dice “way to go” en español?
As we entered the colorful and beautifully decorated classroom of Mrs. Marjorie Gerlach, a teacher at Branson Junior High, we were met with a chorus of “hola” and “bienvenidos” – which seemed apropos because Senora Gerlach IS after all, a Spanish teacher. This veteran educator has logged 24 years in the public school system and was named our final Ozark Mountain Bank Teacher of the Month for the 2008-09 school year. Mrs. Gerlach was nominated by Haleigh Mackey, from her 7th hour Spanish class. Haleigh’s terrific letter included a number of reasons why Senora Gerlach is “maravelloso” and such an extraordinary figure in their lives.
We closed out this school year with a huge party which included tasty pizza from Luigi’s Pizza Kitchen and an array of scrumptious donuts from Dunkin Donuts, and other refreshments from Harter House, along with the presentation of the beautiful plaque from The Sign Man. In addition, we heard a fascinating story about the masses of immigrants aboard the famous ship “Titanic” from First Class Maid Jamie and Mrs. Gerlach and her class received gifts and certificates from the program’s sponsors: Ozark Mountain Bank, Discovery Center of Springfield, Branson Titanic Museum Attraction, Dunkin Donuts and Famous Dave’s BBQ.
Those on hand celebrating with Mrs. Gerlach and her 7th hour class were: Branson Junior High Principal Dr. Brad Swofford, Assistant Principal Brad Dolloff and Branson Schools Director of Communications Brenda Romine; Ozark Mountain Bank’s Roger Frieze and Kathryn Cornett; Brent Bartmann from Famous Dave’s BBQ, representing Branson Titanic Museum Attraction – Kristina Hagey and First Class Maid Jamie; Hometown Radio’s Joan Deberry and Janet Ellis; and Marjorie Gerlach’s husband Bruce and daughter Gretchen.
What a great way to close out the school year and another hugely successful Ozark Mountain Bank program! Felicedades and muchas gracias to Senora Marjorie Gerlach – adios and have a great summer!
